How to Buy Ish

Ok, things have gone pretty well with the "Ish" cd. In two weeks we've sold 250+. People seem to be liking it, despite the fact that I hate the mix. So if any of you who don't go to Riverview would like to buy a cd ($5 plus $1 shipping) email me at groovingdan la la la la la at yahoo.com but ignore all the "la la la's" and you can purchese one via paypal. Paypal is super easy, free and secure to set up transactions with. Thanks!

What didn't you like about the mix Dan?

the drums are inconsistently leveled (usually too quiet). The vocals are distant, not very warm. Just my picky opinion though.

Over the years I've bought worship band CD's from three different churches. All three a disappointment. A bit like when you hear a group in concert and the songs don't sound the same as they did on the radio, only in reverse. We always hear the band live, room acoustics and all, so it ends up sounding strange coming out of a studio. Esp. w/ someone mixing who presumably doesn't go to Riverview.

I've got an idea though. At my old church in Battle Creek someone dropped one of the Thursday rehearsal tapes in the parking lot, so I got to listen to it. It sounded great, not perfect of course since it mixed for the room, not the recording; but great just the same since it sounded like how it normally sounded on Sunday.

So how about a live CD, call it Worship at the Riv - Uncut, if you will. Made up of your favorite cuts from the rehearsal and Sat./Sun. recordings.

Although I thought that the cd had a pretty similar sound to sitting in the back on the lefthand side. Maybe something to think about is where people sit when they are at riverview too. I know up in front it is strange sounding to me, because I usually sit in back. Its all in how you like it.

I have to agree about the drums though. I was a little disappointed with the back up too, usually riv has such good backup harmony, I was quite surprised.

Otherwise it was an good cd, I'm glad you guys took the inititive to have it recorded.
